Huge self-storage facility under construction in Oakley

A massive self-storage facility is under construction in Oakley.

Beyond Self Storage, an operator of storage facilities across the U.S., broke ground at the end of September on its first Cincinnati location. The more than 139,000-square-foot climate controlled storage facility is being built on a portion of the former Cast-Fab property. The 980-unit, three-story self-storage facility will be located just west of Oakley Station.

Lara Anderson, director of marketing for Beyond Self Storage, said she is looking forward to the exposure the brand will receive at this location.

“Providing the business owners and residents of the new apartments with a clean and comfortable storage solution is an exciting opportunity,” Anderson said in a news release provided to the Business Courier. “Our mission is to ‘Protect and Care for What Matters Most,’ and we intend to do just that.”

An affiliate of Beyond Self Storage, BSS Oakley LLC, purchased the 3.5-acre parcel from Local Oakley LLC for $2.75 million. Local Oakley purchased the 28-acre property for $10 million at the beginning of 2019, with plans to redevelop the property.

The Oakley Beyond Self Storage facility will have a drive-thru loading and unloading zone, complimentary carts and dollies, controlled access security features, digital video security recording and motion lights.

NorthPoint Development, the parent company of Beyond Self Storage, is developing the Oakley location. StudioNorth Architecture, which Kansas City-based NorthPoint launched in 2015, is the architect for the project. Blue Sky Construction Management is the general contractor on the project.

Construction is expected to be complete in September 2020, with the facility opening soon after. Pre-leasing for the drive lane units and ground floor spaces will begin 60 days prior to opening.

When Beyond Self Storage opens, it will have two full-time employees.

Beyond Self Storage operates locations in Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Illinois. The company is expanding into three more states in 2019 and launching more than 40 locations nationwide in 10 markets by 2020.
