Almost three miles of Waverly Road through Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC) was improved to support truck traffic for non-standard, heavy loads, and parts of it are now open.
“Waverly Road from 191st Street to 185th Street is open to traffic,” said Beth Linn, Edgerton city administrator. “Also open is the new 185th Street and Montrose Street up to 183rd Street.”A grade separation was constructed at the BNSF intermodal tracks to ensure Waverly Road traffic can operate without delays due to train traffic.
“Clarkson hopes to have the Waverly Road bridge open mid-July,” Linn said. “The south portion of Waverly Road from 191st Street to 196th Street will likely open before the end of July.” Clarkson Construction Co., is the main contractor.

“The enhancements of Waverly Road provides additional access to rail served property which further positions LPKC as one of the top logistics parks in the country,” Donald Roberts, Edgerton mayor said at the ribbon cutting. “Our project partners, BNSF Railway and Kansas Department of Transportation worked seamlessly and in tandem with city staff to bring this important infrastructure project to fruition.”
The design-build team led by Clarkson Construction Company also included HDR, Inc. and Renaissance Infrastructure Consulting. The team worked on an accelerated schedule to maintain building access for tenants along the route. The project employed 272 employees who worked a total of 78,247 hours.
The infrastructure enhancements will now provide access to property on Waverly Road south of 191st Street and the direct-rail served property north of 183rd Street, allowing 3.4 million additional square feet of direct rail space, in addition to the 11 million square feet of warehouse space at LPKC by NorthPoint Development. In conjunction with the project, BNSF Railway constructed an industrial lead track to serve the property north of its LPKC Intermodal Facility for rail-served warehouses
