New self storage facility coming to Mt. Lebanon

Work is progressing in Mt. Lebanon on a new self-storage facility located on Castle Shannon Boulevard, near Baptist Homes.

But, don’t expect to see garage doors, because this facility is self-contained and state-of-the-art.

“It’s a real class A facility,” said Stevey Heinrich, operations manager for Beyond Self Storage, which hopes to open the center by early next year.

Along with a variety of self-contained units, the 110,000-square-foot center will have a a drive-thru loading area, complete climate control and advanced security systems, Ms. Heinrich said.

The facility, approved by Mt. Lebanon commissioners in May, won’t have multiple outside doors like other such facilities. An artist rendering available at www.beyondselfstorage.com shows a completed building that appears more like a suite of offices.

“The indoor facility will have a drive aisle that will enable clients to unload their goods from a vehicle, then take them to a self-contained unit within the building,” said Ian Means, assistant manager and planner for the municipality. “None of the units will have doors facing the exterior of the building. The drive aisle will enter and exit the site along Castle Shannon Boulevard.”

There will also be a 24-hour rental kiosk on hand for customers, along with a conference area and business center.
